Gift Card – Blackpool Mill, near Stoke, Hartland


This spectacular gift card is taken from an oil painting by local North Devon artist; Sally Clarke. Sally typically creates using Watercolour and Indian ink, sometimes pen or pencil. Recently she started dabbling in water mixable oils as well.

We are very honoured to be able to share this wonderful painting of Blackpool Mill, in Hartland. You may recognise it from the many films and TV programmes such as Rosamunde Pilcher’s ‘The Shell Seekers’ with Vanessa Redgrave and Maximillian Schell and in 2007 for Andrew Davies’ adaptation for the BBC of ‘Sense and Sensibility’ with Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper, David Morrissey, Janet McTeer and Charity Wakefield.

In 2015 the BBC filmed scenes for ‘The Night Manager’ by John Le Carre with Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston in and around the cottage.

Scenes from the 2018 showing of ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’, with Lily James, Michael Huisman, Tom Courtenay, Penelope Wilton and Jessica Brown Finlay were shot close to the cottage.

In 2018 a scene from BBCs ‘Gold Digger’ was shot close by and in 2019 Hartland Abbey and the estate were locations for ‘Rebecca’ by Daphne du Maurier and ‘Malory Towers’ by Enid Blyton to be shown in 2020.
