A scent memory.
To celebrate the coronation of Charles III we have created a unique home fragrance designed and based on the historic coronation anointment oil, containing Ambergris, Civet, Orange, Rose, Jasmine, Cinnamon, and Musk – sounding rather Ambrée in its composition.
Inspired by the anointing oil created by Savory and Moore Ltd this ancient recipe brings an historic fragrance that encompasses notes like amber, musk, cinnamon and rose to your home.
Presented in a limited edition box containing a petite crystal vase, handblown by Devon-based and Made in Britain member; Dartington Crystal, and engraved with the words ‘Charles III 6th May 2023’.
Simply pour in the Carolean oil blend from the amber bottle in to the crystal vase, add the reeds and allow to diffuse.
During the ritual, the highly scented oil was poured from Charles II’s Ampulla (the eagle-shaped vessel) into a 12th-century spoon. Meanwhile, the choir sang one of the most thrillingly dramatic songs in history: “Zadok the Priest”. The words are taken from the first Book of Kings, and have been sung at every coronation since King Edgar’s in 973, but the anointment ritual is even older, going back to King Solomon supposedly being anointed by Zadok himself in the 10th century BC.

We source the majority of our ingredients from a family-owned supplier in the Southwest of England. These ingredients are NOT tested on animals and where ever possible are supplied in reusable materials.
Also referred to as ‘Floating Gold’. Much was made, not long ago, of the discovery on a British beach of a whacking great lump of greyish-beige waxy material – which turned out to be worth thousands of pounds. That was ambergris, one of the most valuable and legendary ingredients in perfumery, prized for its ability as a fixative, to enhance a fragrance’s staying power by anchoring the more volatile ingredients, and ‘round it out’.
This spicy, warming oil has is the perfect uplifting room scent, the oil can help to counter exhaustion and depression. Cinnamon is also effective of getting rid of unpleasant smells.
Perfumers love animalic notes – including civet – for the raw sexiness they deliver to perfumes, and for that reason it’s incredibly popular and found in many of the world’s most notoriously seductive scents. Commonly used in perfumes such as Chanel No.5, Calvin Klein Obsession and Dior La Collection Couturier Parfumeur Leather Oud to name a few.
The heady aroma is highly prized by perfumers. It is one of the most uplifting, and its deeply relaxing effects account for its reputation as an aphrodisiac.
Perfumery musks are molecules with subtle scent yet extremely powerful and essential to any perfume formula, even in the smallest quantities. If musks were a colour it would be white. Their scent is subtle, with a powdery yet almost nothingness smell similar to baby’s skin.
The oil creates a sense of relaxed wellbeing and can help to increase feelings of vitality. This calming property makes it useful for taking the edge off stress-related conditions.
Unscrew the silver cap and take out the travel plug. Store the plug somewhere safe in case you decide to stop the diffuser. Place the reeds in the bottle and replace the silver screw cap.
For a more subtle fragrance, use fewer reeds.
Keep away from direct sunlight, other heat sources and clear of open windows, as this will cause the oils to evaporate quicker.
Be careful not to allow the oil to come into contact with polished, painted or synthetic surfaces or fabrics. To help avoid this from happening simply place onto one of our handmade ceramic plates.
We try to keep our packaging recyclable, biodegradable or reusable where ever possible.
When you have finished with your diffuser please follow these steps to ensure as much can be recycled as possible:
